5th Year DCG Freehand Sketching Project 2016
Sketching Brief
The mask is an object worn over or in front of the face to hide the identity of a person and by its own features to establish another being. This essential characteristic of hiding and revealing personalities or moods is common to all masks. As cultural objects they have been used throughout the world in all periods and have been as varied in appearance as in their use and symbolism. On an A3 page present a rendered freehand sketch of a variety of masks. Use scaling, overlapping, human form, shadow and colour swatches to create a visually appealing presentation quality drawing. Try to use colour/shading/line style/prop sketching to portray the mood or personality each mask reveals. Submission date - Friday 16th of January |

5th Year Freehand Sketching Projects
Well done 5th Years on some excellent freehand sketching projects submitted. The example on the left is from Lauren Bullen. Lauren incorporates scaling and overlapping to create a dynamic flow to her presentation. She uses background colour swatches to highlight each mask. The human form in the centre gives the drawing some context.
A very good example of a presentation quality drawing which satisfies the given brief and which is visually appealing and interesting. Well done Lauren :) Click on the image to see some more examples of excellent project work submitted. |
